Ancient Nights

Ancient Nights

by Travis Baribeau

You must listen closely, eyes shut tight
To silent whispers of the night
Of times long past, of things undone
Of battles fought and wagers won

A time when stars of purest light
Bore witness to the endless fight
Where stone forged empires turn to dust
And iron nations fade and rust

Times when Dragons ruled the skies
When men of old met their demise
When giants roamed the borderland
When Elvish armies made their stand

When serpent kings controlled the seas
When gods were brought down to their knees
Times when beasts dwelled far below
A frozen world of ice and snow

So listen closely, eyes shut tight
To ancient wisdom of the night
Of times long past, of things undone
Of battles fought and wagers won
