At a whopping forty-three feet in length for males, and thirty-three feet for females, the Giant Squid comes in at the top of the list of Scary Sea Creatures. It is suggested that only one species of Giant Squid exists.
The inside surfaces of their tentacles are littered with suction cups that are lined with sharp, teeth-like chitlin. They are there to help this sea-horror attach itself to prey and their large eyes allow them to detect light better than most other deep sea inhabitants. Often times, they will leave behind circular scars close to the head of a giant sperm whale in an attempted assassination.
How creepy are these mesmerizing monsters?
