Right Risk

Right Risk

By John Zedolik.

I have the right of way as
a pedestrian—privileged

above the soulless, wheeled
hulks, so realize as you

speed to run through me,
maybe break a few bones

that I have it all over you
despite your imminent crushing

of my shape, and when I
am mangled I’ll hold my head

as high as I can manage, mumble
my pre-eminence through bloody

lips and shattered joints. The risk
was certainly worth it to prove
my citizen’s point.
